If Kate is going to be Queen, then of course her official title is going to have to change. Currently, Queen Elizabeth II is the ruling monarch, and it goes without saying that there can be only one Queen. When William is King, Kate won’t have equal status as his Queen. Instead, Kate will become Queen Consort because she doesn’t have Royal blood running through her veins.
This is in place to ensure the lineage of the Royal Family is secured, and no one can come along and change where the monarchy is headed. As long as there are some living, only blood relatives to the ruling monarch can become heads of the family should the King or Queen pass away.
