[post_page_title]Roman coins in Japan[/post_page_title]

Under Katsuren Castle of Okinawa, Japan, Roman and Ottoman currency was found in the castle’s ruins. Though findings show that the castle was an important trade post en route to China, there was no evidence that Europeans specifically traded with Japan at the time. Despite that, these coins did make it to India and Central Asia through the Silk Road with forgeries made in Southeast Asia. No conclusive explanation as to how these authentic coins managed to arrive there has been found, but regardless, they did the longest track of any Roman coins found to date.
