Cave of Altamira in Cantabria, Spain, contains a multitude of prehistoric cave paintings that appear across the region. The 15,000 year old paintings were either drawn with charcoal or created by different colors to mimic local flora and fauna. The images of the now-extinct steppe bisons and the like were well-preserved since the cave entrance was sealed millenia ago and only opened up this century. Unfortunately, access to the cave is forbidden to visitors, but a replica was built nearby.
