Another UNESCO World Heritage site, Machu Picchu attracts scores of people to Peru’s most famous site. Believed to have been constructed by the Incas in the 15th century, the elevated position is a marvel to many archaeologists. Many people make the trip to the top of the mountain on foot, taking the time to soak in the atmosphere of the Amazon rainforest at the same time. For others, there is a Cusco train that will take you to the top if you don’t fancy the hike.
