Carrie always knew the direction she would take her music when she won her recording contract on American Idol. Growing up in Oklahoma, the singer had spent most of her life falling in love with country music, which can only leave one female idol: Dolly Parton. Carrie was finally able to meet her inspiration at the 50th Country Music Awards as Carrie was up for female vocalist of the year. They say you shouldn’t meet your idols, but Carrie has described it as the highlight of her career.
