The Babadook received plenty of praise and many flocked to the movie theaters to experience this new supposedly terrifying horror movie. But many came out feeling kind of tricked. Where were the scary parts?
Some may say the problem is the label “horror movie” as The Babadook plays out more like a psychological thriller. The monster itself only appears around four time in the movie’s entire 90 min run, and not once during the first half. So many horror movie buffs felt more than a little disappointed.
