The Greatest Showman was an ambitious project that fell flat on its face. And people have not been holding back when describing it. “An awful mess” and a “disappointing circus” are just two of the common, highly unflattering opinions about the musical.
Other common complaints revolve around a shallow plot, where characters are only thinly developed and their dialogues seem unnecessarily melodramatic. The singing and dancing sequences have by many been described as cringe-worthy at best and some simply called the movie “idiotic”. Ouch.
