Despite the fact that the use of these hooks is extremely controversial (so controversial that several American states have banned their use altogether), it appears that the zookeepers at the Prague Zoo were not using the hooks for nefarious purposes, as they do in circuses and in less developed parts of the world. The zoo itself has a great reputation, especially when it comes to elephant research. It was even ranked the number four zoo in the entire world!
