Zookeepers run to the rescue after a mother elephant can’t wake her baby

While there were many commentators alleging that the zookeepers were outright abusing the poor animals behind the scenes, others defended the zookeepers, saying that they held onto the hooks for their own safety. One writer ever wrote that “they have to carry hooks in case something should go wrong. Those are wild animals after all.” Another commenter came to the zookeepers’ defense, saying “even at my zoo they (need to) carry them… just for safety.”
