A subspecies of the Asian elephant, the Indian elephant is a smaller animal which evolved in order to be able to deftly navigate the tropical rainforests of the Indian subcontinent. However, despite their small size, they can still weigh in at up to 11,000 pounds! These beautiful creatures have been hunted to extinction in Pakistan, but conservation efforts are underway in the rest of the continent to make sure that they can survive well into the future.
