The world is still obsessed with cinema, perhaps more so than ever before. Maybe a huge reason why we still love watching the latest Hollywood blockbuster at the cinema is the excitement it brings from watching our favorite stars grace the screen. Award season each year is a chance for the talents of the very best of the best actors and actresses to be celebrated, and boy has there been some outstanding performances over the years.
Whether it’s an emotional outcry in a good old’ tear-jerking drama, or a hilarious performance in the latest romcom, some movie stars never fail to blow us away with their talents. However, there has of course been some occasions in which scenes or indeed whole films have been ruined by the acting. Being on the other side of the camera and having the skills to become an impressively renowned movie star may be a harder task than you think, but it doesn’t mean as amateur cinema-goers we can’t spot a poor performance when we see one.

Sci-fi thriller The Matrix blew audiences away when it was released in 1999, but the same cannot be said about some of the acting from its cast.
The important scene in which Cypher’s true villainous identity is revealed is unfortunately ruined by a bit of dodgy acting, with critics slamming the delivery of Belinda McClory’s line “Not like this…not like this.”. At such a pivotal point in the story, the acting just didn’t pay off.
