Weddings are often a complicated business, and very few actually ever run without some kind of problem. Most of the time, the problems are things like people getting lost on the way to the venue, or finding out someone’s a vegan when you’ve gone all out on the meat.
Then there are the bigger problems, like the bride or groom getting last-minute cold feet and not turning up, leaving their lover shunned at the altar. Marriage is meant to be for life, but these days there are plenty that end in divorce. People change, and the person they fell in love with all those years ago might not stay the same.
That leaves an ex-wife or husband out there, but the golden rule of your next marriage is to make sure you don’t invite the ex. It seemed as though one groom’s ex-wife was upset at the thought of missing out on her former lover’s wedding day she decided to crash the party uninvited. Things didn’t go well for the bride and groom after the ex-wife smashed up the cake, but they were the ones who had the last laugh in the end.
The wedding cake
One of the most important parts of any wedding is the cake, and especially the cutting of the cake ceremony. It’s something that many weddings have, and the cake is meant to be a symbol of the bride and groom’s commitment to providing for each other.
They are not cheap, and ordering a tiered cake can cost hundreds of dollars. What you wouldn’t want to happen is for someone to come along and smash up that expensive treat.
Taking the stress away
Weddings take lots of planning and to take the stress out of the situation, many couples choose to hire a planner. What could be better to take the stress out of the decision-making than getting someone to make those decisions for you? Also if anything goes wrong at the wedding, then you know who to blame and who to send to get things back on track.
One couple were expecting the wedding of their dreams to go off without a hitch, but they hadn’t counted on someone from their past coming back to haunt them. Ex partners are exes for a reason, and the groom at this wedding remembered precisely why he was looking for happiness with his new bride.
Testing their resourcefulness
The wedding planner had put on a great celebration, and it was time for the reception. All of the guests were getting ready to kick off the good times, but an uninvited guest turned up, the groom’s ex-wife. It seems as though she had discovered her former lover was tying the knot and she didn’t approve of his choice.
The story shared all over the internet, and the ex-wife reportedly made a beeline for the couple’s wedding cake. It wasn’t enough that she turned up to the reception and made things super awkward, she was also intent on destroying the celebration by destroying the cake. The wedding planner was going to have to work her magic to fix this terrible situation.
Controlling the intruder
The ex-wife of the groom decided she was tearing this party up. She had somehow managed to pick up all tiers of the wedding cake and hurled them toward the newlyweds. They were meant to be the happy couple, but at this moment in time, the bride and groom were anything but happy.
The ex-wife hadn’t finished her rampage though, she had only just begun. A little bit of cake on the floor wasn’t going to get this celebration to end, and the ex-wife had to escalate things further. That was when the real destruction began from the seemingly scorned former lover. Everyone in the wedding party was going to feel her wrath that day.
Picking a fight
Cake on the floor was one thing, but this ex-wife needed something bigger and better. That’s when she started grabbing at the bottles of drink left on the tables for the guests. She started smashing them on the floor, causing huge splashes or red to ruin anything that they touched.
That included the bride and groom’s clothing. Your wedding dress is meant to be one of the most important pieces of clothing you’ll ever own, but now this bride’s had been ruined by her partner’s former lover. The groomsmen decided it was time to shut this one-woman wrecking ball down and tried to subdue her, all that seemed to do though was enrage her even more.
It wasn’t enough that this ex-wife had come to the wedding and disrupted everyone’s good time, she needed things to get physical. As the groomsmen tried to restrain her, the ex-wife of the groom clocked one of his close friends.
She had now just assaulted a member of the wedding party, and was still showing threatening behavior toward the bride and groom. The bottles were being used as weapons, but luckily, she hadn’t managed to hit anyone. She needed to be stopped before anyone else got hurt.
Shutting it down
It was time to shut this thing down, and the police were called to take care of the crazed ex-wife. She was put in the back of a police car and taken to jail. The ex-wife was charged with assault with a weapon, assault, and destruction of property.
Then it was time to get back to the party and forget all about the horrible incident that had occurred. After a quick cleanup by the wedding party, the bride and groom were able to resume their celebrations like nothing had happened.
Sadly there was no way to save the wedding cake from the destruction it had suffered at the hands of the crazed ex-wife. Not only had it been thrown to the floor, but there was also a bunch of broken glass stuck in it, so there was no chance anyone could possibly eat it.
The wedding guests rallied together to clear up the mess that the ex-wife made, but there was still one thing missing, the cake. It was up to the wedding planner to find a solution to this problem.
Looking for solutions
The cake incident had happened fairly early in the day, so there was still a slim bit of hope that the wedding planner could rescue the situation. She rang around a bunch of bakeries until she found what she was looking for.
There was a donut shop that was still open, but it was going to be closing in an hour. The wedding planner spoke to the manager of the donut shop and had a proposal for him. If this worked, she might just save the day.
A panicked call
The donut store manager explained his phone conversation with the wedding planner. He said that the woman sounded panicked on the other end of the phone. She said that she knew they were probably closing up soon, but if they were able to give her just a couple of minutes of their time, she would be grateful.
The donut store manager didn’t really understand what was going on, but things were about to become clearer. He was about to receive one of the most unusual requests he’d ever gotten.
All the donuts
The woman at the end of the phone was asking the donut store manager if she could buy all of the stock he had left in the room. It was a tough decision for the donut store owner because they were due to close in one hour.
If the woman wasn’t able to get there in that time, he was going to have to pay someone overtime to wait. The donut store manager could tell how desperate the woman was on the phone though, so agreed to sell her everything left.
The wedding planner said she had found inspiration from something the bride told her. It seemed as though the bride had always been a big fan of donuts, ever since she was a kid. Not that anyone can blame her, donuts are great.
The bride was willing to substitute her smashed up wedding cake with bits of glass and drink in for as many donuts as the wedding planner could get. It was now a frantic attempt to save the wedding by getting donuts.
Wanting to help
The donut store manager realized he was in a position to really help this woman out. He was willing to leave his store open for a little longer on the understanding that when the wedding planner got there, she was buying out the store.
It was a mystery to the store owner why there was such an urgent need for donuts, but he didn’t want to ask too many questions. After all, the customer is always right, so if they want to buy all his donuts, who is he to argue?
Not messing around
The donut store manager was staying open for another hour, but he didn’t have to wait that long for the woman on the other end of the phone to arrive. He reckoned it only took her about 10 minutes to get from wherever she was to his store.
The store owner told the woman that if she could get to the store as soon as possible, then he was willing to work with her. He barely had time to put the phone down when she appeared ready to buy everything he had.
A special surprise
When the woman arrived at the donut store, she explained why she urgently needed those sweet treats from him. He was only too happy to help and even had a special treat that the bride and groom might enjoy.
The store owner asked the wedding planner to hold up for just a second before she paid. He grabbed a couple of eclairs and wrote the names of the bride and groom on them. It wasn’t much, but he figured it would be nice for them to have something a little special.
The bride and groom were going to be eating a lot of donuts thanks to this store manager, but they needed something special to cut. The cutting of the cake is a traditional ceremony, so they needed something to cut to symbolize their union.
After writing the names on two donuts, the store manager also wrote “Congrats” on another. He then instructed the wedding planner to put them above and below whichever donut they chose as the ‘ceremonial’ one.
Hoping for smiles
The owner thought that his eclairs might at least bring a few smiles to the faces of the bride and groom if nothing else. He wished the wedding planner all the best, and she thanked him profusely.
The store manager hoped that the couple would find his eclairs cute, and they did. He would later find out exactly what the happy couple thought of not only his special eclairs, but the donuts he sold them to save the day.
The manager let the wedding planner leave his store and figured he might never hear from her again. He remained curious to know how his donuts went down at the wedding and whether they went in any way to help save the day.
As he didn’t know the bride or groom, there was no way of knowing, so it was always going to be something that bugged him. Little did he know the bride and groom were planning on taking a trip to visit the donut store that saved their wedding.
After a little bit of time, the manager said a couple walked into his store. They seemed very much in love, and they came in asking for him by name. He wondered why they were asking for him specifically until they told him that they had just gotten back from their honeymoon.
They told him that they were the couple who needed his donuts to save their wedding day. They said they wanted to thank him in person for them and the surprise eclairs.
Showing the pictures
The couple came into the donut store that day armed with some of their wedding photos to show the manager. They filled him in on all the gory details about the ex-wife and then showed him what they did with his eclairs.
The husband and wife were holding up their special named eclairs for the camera to see. Then in the next shot, they were stuffing them into each other’s faces. This pleased the store manager as he felt as though his genius had been appreciated.
Accepting the outcome
The bride then showed the manager how much her dress had been ruined by her husband’s crazed ex-wife. There were stains all over the dress, not to mention all the frosting. It had once been a beautiful dress, but now it was just going to be “one of those stories” that she was going to tell her children someday.
They made the best of the situation after realizing they could swap out their ruined cake for stacks of donuts.
The last laugh
The bride and groom could have called off the celebrations after the woman came and crashed their wedding. She left a path of destruction, but the newlyweds wanted to continue their celebration of love in any way they could.
Their wedding planner came to the rescue by getting the donuts from the store, with the manager adding the final touches. The donut shop manager said he wished them all the best for giving him one of the best stories to ever come out of his store.
Entertainment is entertainment
Let’s be real: Although it’s pretty messed up what this woman did, it was probably extremely entertaining for the wedding guests.
If you interviewed all the wedding guests who weren’t especially close to the bride and groom, and lined them up in a room, and gave them all truth serum, and asked them the question, “Was that entertaining for you to watch?” – what do you think they would say? The answer would probably be yes most of the time.
It’s not because these people don’t care about the bride and groom. It’s not that they don’t appreciate beautiful weddings. No, it has nothing to do with that. It has to do with a completely different part of our mind – the part that craves freshness, and surprises.
Sometimes we simply want something to happen that we don’t expect. We want a story that we can tell our children one day – provided, of course, that everyone in the story is safe and sound.
They probably felt like they were part of a crazy movie. An angry ex crashing a wedding, destroying everything in sight including a cake? That’s the kind of stuff you only see in the theater, so you can’t expect the wedding guests to not be a little bit amused.
And to make everything perfect, the bride ended up getting donuts and solving the problem. Now the wedding guests were not only entertained, but they don’t have to feel bad about themselves.
Too close for comfort
The family members, on the other hand, were a lot closer to the situation. It may not have been them getting married, but they as good as were. Their loved ones were engaging in holy matrimony, and they’re about as close to the situation as they can get.
They understood the moment everything went downhill that their beloved bride and groom were probably freaking out, and feeling a bit heartbroken about what was happening to their special day.
All that being said, it’s pretty incredible the way that the bride and the groom didn’t lose their cool. They could’ve embarrassed the woman to no end. They could’ve screamed at her in front of all those people, but they had their eyes on the prize.
It wasn’t about her. It was about maintaining their big day – and that was the only important thing. Amazingly, they were able to wrap everything up perfectly and end the night in a magical fashion.
