Shows Netflix never should have canceled

Is there anything better than coming in from a long day at work, settling down on the couch, and binge-watching your favorite Netflix series? We think not! The streaming service has become one of the most popular ways to watch television nowadays and has spoiled us with some of the best originals we’ve seen in a very long time. However, with so many Netflix Originals being made each year, not all of them stick around. In fact, you could be just getting into a show only to find out it has been canceled after the first or second series. These are the shows we’re hoping Netflix will change their minds on… Please, guys!

Girlboss

They cameth and they taketh away with this biographical comedy, following the story of Sophia Amoruso, the founder of Nasty Gal. The #GirlBoss book was an instant hit, as it documented Sophia’s rocky path to being the owner of a company worth millions. However, the TV show gave us more of a hysterical insight into the life of an actual girl boss. The Netflix Original received critical and audience acclaim, before the streaming service decided they were going to cut it short. Only one season, which aired in April 2017, and we’re still kind of hoping they’re going to surprise us with a second season one day.

The OA

If you’ve seen the news recently, then you may have heard the sci-fi mystery show The OA has been canceled. We know, we can’t believe it either! Created by Brit Marling, who also plays the shows lead character, Prairie, Part I was released in December 2016 and bent our minds with the weird and wonderful storyline – plus, who can forget the finale of this season?! Goosebumps. They then put Part II on Netflix in March 2019, after a long wait for fans. If we thought the ending of season one was amazing, the second series blew it completely out of the water. No spoilers here, but trust us when we say it is worth a watch. In fact, it was set up perfectly for the third season before Netflix announced the show would finish there. What?! No wonder #SaveTheOA has been trending.

Jessica Jones

It seems as though Netflix is keen to show off some serious girl power with some of their shows, before brutally ripping them away from us again. Jessica Jones was a TV show set in the Marvel Universe, starring the epic Krysten Ritter as the titular character. We followed this dark and brooding superhero through three seasons before Netflix pulled the plug. However, they’ve canceled all of their Marvel shows this year which we think might have something to do with a certain Disney streaming service coming soon… Hopefully, Jessica Jones will be back!

One Day At A Time

What happens when you create a sitcom that’s extremely popular and award-winning, that both audiences and critics love? Well, if you’re Netflix, you cancel it apparently. People couldn’t believe it when the streaming service announced they were canceling the show in March, just a month after they dropped the third season. In true social media style, everyone took to Twitter to express their outrage at it being canceled… And then Pop TV decided that they’d take it on, which they announced back in June. Phew!

These are just some of the many, many incredible shows that Netflix should never have canceled. It breaks our hearts when they do it, but we soon find ourselves deep in another series anyway… So, we guess it’s swings and roundabouts!
