Matt Damon was in that? Most surprising celebrity cameos

It won’t come as much of a surprise to learn that people who work in the movie industry also make work friends like everybody else. While we might help out our colleagues by holding something for them, or covering a shift, some actors like to help out their friends by appearing in their movies. Sometimes they do that by just appearing very briefly in a movie, making a cameo that nobody was expecting. Here’s a look at some of the unexpected cameos from some of the biggest stars in the world.

Daniel Craig – Star Wars: The Force Awakens

When Star Fans fans knew they were going to be getting some fresh new movies they just couldn’t wait to see some of their favorite characters come back to life in the sci-fi franchise. In the 2015 reboot of the series, another movie franchise star managed to appear for a little moment that some people might have missed but then couldn’t believe when they noticed it. Daniel Craig plays a stormtrooper named JB-007, a nod to the fact that the man inside the suit was none other than James Bond himself.

Bill Murray – Zombieland

Bill Murray has earned the right to appear in whatever movie he wants. He has had a great career filled with hilarious comic roles, so when he was approached to feature in 2009 horror comedy Zombieland, he bit the producer’s arm off (not literally). The survivors in the movie make their way to the Hollywood Hills and try to find a celebrity home to lie low in to get away from the zombie apocalypse. They choose Bill Murray’s home but can’t believe their luck when they find him alive and well inside!

Matt Damon – Thor: Ragnarok

Matt Damon stunned audiences with his cameo in comic book action movie Thor: Ragnarok. Loki, the villain-come-ally in the movie franchise, is famously played by Tom Hiddleston. In one scene Matt Damon surprisingly stands in for Hiddleston as Loki stages a play bragging about all of his triumphs. Seemingly it all happened because Thor actor Chris Hemsworth is good friends with Damon and he convinced the A-list star to swing by and get on the set.

David Hasselhoff – The Spongebob Movie

It was a pretty big surprise to see David Hasselhoff in the flesh in the children’s animated adventure The Spongebob Movie. The movie follows the adventures of Spongebob and his best friend Patrick during their hijinks at the bottom of the ocean. Of course, Hasselhoff is famous for playing a lifeguard on TV drama Baywatch so it made sense that if anybody was going to rescue Spongebob and Patrick in the water, it would be The Hoff.

David Bowie – Zoolander

2001 comedy Zoolander was littered with celebrity cameos, but one of the most surprising was without a doubt, David Bowie. The rock star played himself as he judged a walk-off challenge between the two main characters. What’s a walk off? When two models battle it out on the runway, each trying to make their walks and poses better than the really, really, ridiculously good-looking person before them. Bowie stepped in to judge the contest to make sure the result was fair.

Mike Tyson -The Hangover

When the comedy movie The Hangover came out in 2009, it took movie theatres by storm. It was kind of a gross-out movie but also hilarious as many of us could relate to trying to piece together the night before that got a little bit out of hand after partying too hard. The gang discovers they stole Mike Tyson’s tiger during that wild night and Tyson himself appears in the movie, being considered one of the best moments of the entire movie.

These are the cameos that had our jaws dropping as it dawned on us that these superstars had appeared in some of our favorite movies.
