It’s hard to believe that YouTube only launched thirteen years ago. The website is a hub for any video imaginable, with users watching more than a billion hours worth every single day. The platform easily lent itself to video game streaming by providing people with somewhere for sharing their gaming exploits online. So many people used it to post their videos that the site has since developed its own service specifically designed for gamers – YouTube Gaming.
While YouTube has always been a hugely popular platform for gaming videos, though, it hasn’t always been the best for live streaming. The site is more commonly used as a place to upload pre-filmed content, especially now that there’s somewhere dedicated to live streaming – Twitch. The platform has been around since 2011, and has garnered two million broadcasters since its inception. That may not be a figure hugely comparable to overall YouTube users, but regarding gaming streams, it’s out in front.
No matter what kind of gamer you are and what site you prefer to use, developing a following online has never been easier. Liking video games has gone from being stereotypically associated with nerdiness and isolation to something enjoyed by the masses. The popularity has spawned a variety of eSports leagues and tournaments and made the cosplay community much more universally recognized than it once was. It’s the personal touch that comes with watching people play games online that has truly revolutionized gaming, though.
The connection that streamers have with their audience is incredibly special, and it’s turned video gaming into a social activity. People have the opportunity to interact with their viewers while live streaming, rather than simply connecting with them through social media. It’s changed the landscape of gaming forever, and these women have all made their contribution to it.
Are you a fan of these gamers? Their charisma and charm keep bringing us back to their channels every day. We can’t get enough of them. What do you think?
